2008 wurde aus Daniel Benz Asphaltgold Dani. In Darmstadt und explizit für die Rhein-Main-Area gegründet, avancierte Asphaltgold über die Jahre zu einem der wichtigsten Sneaker- & Streetwear-Stores des Landes mit mittlerweile einem zweiten Laden in Frankfurt, sowie Collabs mit unter anderem Asics, Saucony, Leica, Smart, und natürlich dem SV Darmstadt 98. Man könnte sagen, Dani ist ein umtriebiger Typ.

Smile! … Den Perfektionismus kannst Du ruhig beibehalten. Aber geh es gelegentlich etwas gelassener an. Eher auch mal über die Dinge schmunzeln und passieren lassen.
Wer oder was inspiriert dich in deinem Leben und wie hat es Einfluss auf dich und deine Leidenschaft?
Ästhetik inspiriert mich sehr. An den unterschiedlichsten Momenten und Orten in meinem Leben. Von einem innovativ gestalteten Café, über ein Paar perfekte Felgen für einen Oldtimer, bis hin zu einem geilen Outfit, welches durch unerwartete Kontraste seinen Look ausmacht.

Welche (Sub-)Kultur hat dich am meisten inspiriert und warum und wie?
Auch wenn ich natürlich viele Jahre schon Schuhe mag und mich damit beschäftigt habe, bin ich nie suuper tief in irgendeine Subculture eingetaucht. Wenn ich mich entscheiden müsste, wäre es sicher die Musik, die mich häufig sehr inspiriert hat. Funky Tunes die von 0 auf 100 Coolness erzeugen sind schon sehr inspirierend für mich. Häufig sind es Bassläufe und Off-Beats die instant bei mir clicken.
Wer oder was hat dich zuletzt inspiriert?
In 2008, Daniel Benz became Asphaltgold Dani. Founded in Darmstadt and specifically for the Rhine-Main area, Asphaltgold has become one of the most important sneaker and streetwear stores in the country over the years, now with a second store in Frankfurt, as well as collaborations with Asics, Saucony, Leica, Smart, and, of course, SV Darmstadt 98. You could say Dani is a busy guy.

Smile! ... You can keep the perfectionism. But take it a little easier sometimes. Smile about things and let things happen.
Who or what inspires you in your life and how does it influence you and your passion?
Aesthetics inspire me greatly. In the most diverse moments and places in my life. From an innovatively designed café to a pair of perfect rims for a classic car to a cool outfit that defines its look through unexpected contrasts.
Which (sub)culture has inspired you the most, and why and how?
Even though I've obviously loved shoes and been into them for many years, I've never really immersed myself in any one subculture. If I had to choose, it would definitely be music, which has often inspired me the most. Funky tunes that instantly create coolness are very inspiring to me. Often, it's bass lines and off-beats that instantly click with me.
